♦A senior broadcast journalist with Radio Nigeria Network News, Abuja, Mr. Ovye Kuje, has lost his personal belongings to a fire outbreak that gutted his apartment in Abuja, while his Bible was reportedly untouched by the flames.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening in Abuja, left the journalist counting his losses as household items, documents, clothing and other valuables were completely destroyed.
According to sources close to the journalist, the fire outbreak was sudden and efforts to salvage some property proved abortive as the inferno spread rapidly.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with nothing left in the apartment after the fire was put out.
However, in what many have described as miraculous, Kuje’s Holy Bible was found intact and untouched by the fire, despite everything around it being burnt to ashes.
The development has sparked reactions among colleagues and residents, with many describing the survival of the Bible as a sign of divine protection and faith.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be officially ascertained, while the management of Radio Nigeria and colleagues have continued to commiserate with the veteran journalist.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa and FCT chapters, are expected to pay a solidarity visit to the affected journalist.
