The Grassroots Mobilisation Network (GMN), a support group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly address allegations concerning references to him in narcotics-related documents reportedly submitted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before a federal court in Washington, D.C.
The group made the demand in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by its spokesperson, Mr Peter Emeka.
According to Emeka, the President should provide Nigerians with an explanation over reports surrounding documents reportedly submitted in connection with a narcotics-related legal matter before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
“We call on President Tinubu to come out clean and speak to the nation over the ongoing litigation in America,” Emeka said.

The GMN said the alleged documents and the controversy surrounding them had generated public concern, arguing that the Presidency should address the matter to provide clarity and prevent speculation.
The support group also criticised Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies, alleging that they had failed to adequately investigate or respond to the issues being raised publicly.
“Our system has failed for the fact that they were unable to detect all these embarrassing documents being paraded against the President, which are now the subject of litigation in a far-away country,” Emeka stated.
The group further questioned the effectiveness of intelligence agencies responsible for investigation and national security checks.
“Our intelligence agencies saddled with the responsibility of investigation and various checks have all failed,” he added.
The GMN subsequently urged President Tinubu to respond publicly, warning that continued silence could fuel further suspicion.
“If the President continues to remain mute, he should quietly resign to save the nation from the ongoing global embarrassment,” Emeka said.
Tinubu’s Reported European Vacation
The group also demanded greater transparency regarding President Tinubu’s reported three-week vacation in Europe.
It called on the Presidency to provide Nigerians with information about the President’s itinerary and engagements during the period.
“The prevailing mood of the country requires the Presidency to make a full disclosure of President Tinubu’s movements,” the group said.
The GMN maintained that greater transparency would help address speculation, reassure Nigerians and protect Nigeria’s image internationally.

The group urged the Presidency to respond directly to the allegations and questions rather than allow them to dominate public discourse.
It is important to note that the claims in the statement are allegations and demands made by the GMN; they do not, by themselves, establish wrongdoing by President Tinubu.
