Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Benue State, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has pledged to create at least 100,000 jobs annually for young people if elected governor in 2027.
Aondoakaa said his administration would work closely with the private sector to stimulate employment and expand economic opportunities for youths across the state.

He also pledged to tackle political thuggery by providing young people with access to capital, entrepreneurship programmes, cooperatives and other empowerment initiatives.
The former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice made the commitments while addressing commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders, who welcomed him into Makurdi on Saturday.
The riders reportedly converged at the Agan Toll Gate and accompanied Aondoakaa in a long procession into the state capital after his return from Abuja.
The procession moved through parts of Makurdi before culminating in a carnival-like gathering at his residence along George Akume Way.
Addressing the gathering, Aondoakaa said the energy and creativity of Benue youths should be channelled towards productive economic activities rather than political violence.
He said young people required jobs, access to finance and opportunities to build sustainable businesses.
According to him, his proposed administration would support viable cooperatives through which young entrepreneurs, artisans, commercial motorcycle operators, farmers and other groups could access financial assistance to establish or expand their businesses.
Aondoakaa further said his administration would partner with the private sector in agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, construction, technology, services and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to expand investment and employment.
He set a target of creating not fewer than 100,000 jobs annually.
Jobs and enterprise are also listed among the priorities of Aondoakaa’s published campaign blueprint, alongside agriculture, education, healthcare, security and accountable governance.
The PDP candidate also cautioned against the development of personality cults around political office holders.
He said he would not encourage supporters to use the slogan, “No Aondoakaa, No Benue,” insisting that the state belongs to its people and is greater than any individual occupying the office of governor.
Aondoakaa said political leadership should be centred on service to citizens rather than elevating an individual above the state.

The engagement with Okada operators is part of a series of meetings between the PDP candidate and political, professional and community groups ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Aondoakaa was affirmed as the PDP’s governorship candidate at the party’s state congress in May 2026.
