The Director of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to sponsoring executive bills aimed at improving women’s representation in elective and appointive positions across Nigeria.
Edu also assured the President of sustained grassroots mobilisation and engagement with women across the country, emphasising the importance of strengthening their participation in governance and the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
President Tinubu had assured Nigerian women of his support for the proposed legislation, pledging to pursue measures that would increase women’s representation in the National Assembly and at the subnational level.
The President gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he acknowledged the critical contributions of women to political mobilisation and democratic development.
Addressing women leaders at the event, Tinubu described them as indispensable to the country’s democratic process.

“You women are the greatest mobilisers and foot soldiers of our democracy,” the President said.
He urged women leaders to intensify advocacy and mobilisation in support of the six proposed bills, expressing confidence that their efforts would produce the desired outcome.
“Go and work for them, and I assure you that they will come to fruition,” Tinubu added.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the President’s remarks, Edu thanked him for his commitment to advancing women’s political representation, describing the proposed legislation as an important step towards strengthening inclusion in governance.
She reaffirmed her determination to engage women across communities, expand grassroots structures and encourage greater female participation in the political process.
Edu also highlighted her commitment to working under the supervision of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to advance women’s mobilisation and political participation nationwide.
She expressed confidence that the President’s assurances would inspire more women to participate actively in democratic activities and political engagement.
The APC women mobilisation chief further assured Tinubu that women across the country would sustain their support and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, while expressing optimism about the prospects of increased female representation in governance.
The proposed bills are expected to remain a key focus of advocacy among women leaders seeking greater opportunities for women in Nigeria’s political and legislative institutions.
