Political stakeholders from different parties in Umaisha have rallied behind the political direction announced by former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development followed Balarabe’s visit to his country home in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area, where he met with constituents and political stakeholders.
The gathering attracted people associated with the APC, PDP, SDP, ADC and other political tendencies.
Balarabe used the occasion to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Dr. Shuaib Faisal, Mohammed Yerima Albasheer and Muhammed Muntaka.
Stakeholders Speak
Hajia Kumajo Yusuf, a former APC Umaisha Ward women leader and Umaisha District coordinator, criticised the incumbent representative, alleging that his performance had fallen short of expectations.
Alhaji Gombo Isah, a PDP stakeholder, used the occasion to apologise to Balarabe for supporting Sa’ad during the 2023 election.
Isah appealed to the former Speaker to forgive him, saying he regretted his political decision.
He further alleged that Sa’ad had abandoned some of those who supported him after becoming a lawmaker.
Another stakeholder, Alhaji Awal Kabawa, commended Balarabe for accepting to lead what he described as the struggle for the political emancipation of the people of Umaisha.
He assured the former Speaker that the people would follow his political direction in 2027.
Baba Sani, a PDP youth leader in Umaisha Ward, also apologised to Balarabe over his activities during the 2023 election.
Balarabe Appeals for Support
Speaking earlier, Balarabe reminded the people of the role they played in his political journey between 2015 and 2023.
He said their support enabled him to serve as Speaker for eight years and some months.
The former Speaker said the 2027 election had entered a critical phase and urged the people to make political choices that would advance the interests of the area.
He also used his legislative experience to explain what he described as the responsibilities of elected representatives.
₦4 Million Grassroots Support
As part of the visit, Balarabe donated ₦4 million to women and youth groups.
The gesture, according to him, was aimed at encouraging the groups and strengthening grassroots participation.
The political gathering ended with renewed calls for unity among different political tendencies in Umaisha ahead of the 2027 elections.
