By Grace Kyuni, Asaba
The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has declared the support of the Asaba Kingdom for President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while commending Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon for his mobilisation efforts in promoting the administrations’ policies and programmes.
The monarch made the declaration at his palace in Asaba when Funkekeme, the Delta State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, and his team paid him a congratulatory visit to mark his second anniversary on the throne.
Azinge praised Funkekeme for his dedication to communicating the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Delta State Government’s MORE Agenda, noting that his engagements across the state had helped promote awareness of the policies and programmes of both administrations.
The traditional ruler said he had closely followed Funkekeme’s mobilisation activities, particularly his presentation at a recent meeting of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, where he outlined the benefits of the reforms introduced by the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations.
“Let me commend you. You have shown passion and commitment. You are everywhere marketing the President’s and Governor’s messages. I saw what you did at the Traditional Rulers Council. You spoke so well.
“Please keep it up. Your efforts will not be in vain. You will surely be remembered when the time for compensation comes,” the monarch said.
Asaba Kingdom Backs Tinubu, Oborevwori
Azinge stressed that traditional institutions had a role to play in supporting purposeful leadership and contributing to the development of their communities and the country.
He consequently affirmed the Asaba Kingdom’s support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and all APC candidates.
“We are in total support of President Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all candidates of the APC,” he declared.
The monarch also recounted his engagement with President Tinubu in March last year, when Delta State was still governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Azinge, he used the meeting to present concerns affecting his people to the President, who subsequently took action on the issues raised.
He said he later informed Governor Oborevwori about the development, adding that the governor was pleased with the outcome.
Monarch Acknowledges Economic Hardship, Expresses Optimism
The Asagba acknowledged that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration had brought economic difficulties for Nigerians.
However, he expressed optimism that the policies were intended to reposition the country for sustainable economic growth and development.
He also commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration, saying the governor had demonstrated his capacity to deliver on his mandate.
The monarch’s remarks highlighted the importance of engagement between traditional institutions and political leaders in addressing community concerns and promoting development.
Funkekeme Celebrates Asagba’s Second Anniversary
Earlier, Funkekeme congratulated Azinge on the second anniversary of his ascension to the throne, describing his reign as impactful and transformative for the Asaba Kingdom.
Funkekeme, who also serves as Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Oborevwori on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, reflected on the changes he had witnessed in Asaba since the creation of Delta State in 1991.

Having lived in the state capital since its creation, he said Asaba had experienced remarkable improvements and greater royal distinction since Azinge became the traditional ruler.
He prayed for God to grant the monarch greater wisdom, sound health and a long, peaceful and prosperous reign.
The visit combined anniversary felicitations with discussions on governance, policy communication and the relationship between traditional institutions and political leadership in Delta State.
