As political mobilisation for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections begins to intensify, women aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council are taking their campaign message into communities across Kano State in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The initiative is part of a nationwide women’s mobilisation programme led by Dr Betta Edu, Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. In Kano, Hajiya Maimuna Bello and Hon. Tsakuwa are representing the directorate in parts of the state.
Bello announced the commencement of the community-to-community exercise, which is intended to strengthen grassroots structures, widen political engagement and encourage women to participate actively in the campaign’s activities.

At the centre of the initiative is the directorate’s stated ambition to secure 40 million votes from female supporters nationwide.
Taking the Campaign Into Neighbourhoods
In Minjibir Local Government Area, Hon. Tsakuwa reportedly assembled hundreds of women for a sensitisation programme designed to encourage door-to-door mobilisation.
The strategy seeks to move political engagement beyond conventional rallies by encouraging direct contact with residents and strengthening relationships within local communities.
Bello called on female leaders, political support groups and other stakeholders across Kano’s 44 local government areas to sustain the momentum and participate in the directorate’s mobilisation programmes.
Her appeal underscores the organisers’ emphasis on local participation as they seek to expand their network throughout the state.
Women’s Welfare Takes Centre Stage
Beyond electoral mobilisation, Bello commended First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her vision and programmes aimed at improving women’s welfare, promoting economic empowerment and creating greater opportunities for women.
She also congratulated Dr Betta Edu on her appointment, expressing confidence that her leadership would strengthen the coordination and national reach of the directorate.
Bello reaffirmed her determination to work with local structures across Kano to advance the campaign’s objectives.
The Test Ahead
The campaign’s 40-million-vote ambition presents a substantial organisational challenge. Turning that target into electoral support will require sustained community engagement, effective coordination and a compelling message capable of connecting with women across different social and economic backgrounds.
For the Kano organisers, the immediate priority is to establish a stronger grassroots presence and encourage wider participation in the mobilisation exercise ahead of the 2027 polls.
