The leadership of the Kogi City Boy Movement (CBM), led by its Director-General, Hon. Mark Ogah Okpanachi, on Saturday paid a strategic visit to its Matron and the Secretary to the Kogi State Government (SSG), Dr. Mrs. Ayoade Folashade Arike, to brief her on the movement’s activities so far and outline its plans for future engagements.
The meeting, held at the SSG’s office in Lokoja, centred on strengthening grassroots mobilisation across Kogi State and aligning the movement’s programmes with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while consolidating support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Speaking after the meeting, Okpanachi described the engagement as productive and family-oriented, likening it to a discussion “between a mother and her children.”
He said the visit provided an opportunity to review the progress made by the City Boy Movement in Kogi State and develop strategies to deepen political participation and grassroots engagement.
According to him, preparations are at an advanced stage for the inauguration of the movement’s state, local government, ward leaders and polling unit canvassers, an event expected to attract the North Central Zonal Leadership as well as the National Leadership of the City Boy Movement.
“We reviewed the steady progress of the City Boy Movement in Kogi State and mapped out practical steps towards our forthcoming all-inclusive inauguration.
“Our discussions centred on strengthening grassroots mobilisation across the 21 local government areas and recalibrating our structures at the ward and polling unit levels for greater efficiency and impact,” Okpanachi said.
The Director-General expressed confidence in the future of the organisation, noting that the continued guidance and support of its matron, coupled with the commitment of members, would further strengthen the movement’s contribution to good governance and democratic participation in the state.
Responding, Dr. Folashade Arike welcomed the delegation and commended the leadership of the City Boy Movement for its commitment to grassroots mobilisation and political inclusion.
She expressed appreciation to the members for finding her worthy to serve as the movement’s Matron, assuring them of her readiness to deploy her experience and expertise towards achieving the aims and objectives of the organisation.
The SSG also reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s continued support for the movement and highlighted key achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, civil service reforms and other critical sectors.
According to her, the ongoing developmental projects across the state have strengthened public confidence in the administration and positioned it favourably ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She expressed optimism that the performance of both the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kogi State Government led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo would further consolidate public support in the next electoral cycle.
The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations by political support groups aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and promoting the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
