Forum Says Grassroots Stakeholders Played Key Role in Previous APC Electoral Victories
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has reminded Governor Abdullahi Sule of the role played by grassroots party stakeholders in delivering the local government for the APC in previous elections.
The elders made the assertion during a reconciliation meeting organised by the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council and represented by the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Dalami Usman Garkuwa.
Speaking through its Chairman, Alhaji Musa Ozeremi, the forum said some of its members had worked for the success of the APC in Toto even before some of the Governor’s current political appointees joined government.

The elders specifically claimed that they delivered Toto for the APC in previous elections when one of the appointees they referred to was still associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
They also said that in 2023, before the said appointee was appointed into government, grassroots APC members again worked to deliver the local government for the ruling party.
The forum said the history demonstrated that electoral success in Toto could not be attributed to individuals alone, stressing the importance of recognising party structures, elders, leaders and grassroots mobilisers.
The elders commended the Executive Chairman for initiating reconciliation efforts and promoting what they described as inclusive leadership.
They said the Chairman’s approach had encouraged stakeholders who previously considered aligning with opposition forces to reconsider such plans.
The forum consequently appealed to Governor Sule to strengthen consultation with APC stakeholders in Toto and caution political appointees against actions capable of creating divisions.
It urged all party members to work toward unity and prepare for the 2027 elections from a position of strength.

The elders maintained that a united APC would be better positioned to consolidate its electoral gains and sustain effective political structures across Toto Local Government Area.
They called for continued reconciliation and inclusive engagement between government officials and grassroots stakeholders, saying the interest of the party should remain above individual political ambitions.
