Stakeholders in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have begun intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, projecting a stronger electoral showing for Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Uwah made the projection on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, during a meeting with political leaders and stakeholders from Uyo Local Government Area at his residence.
The SSG, who is also the Political Leader of Uyo, said the local government would deliver massive votes for Governor Eno, President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
He commended the people for supporting the state government and said the level of development in Uyo justified continued backing for the governor.
“Things are better with Uyo now than in the past. The Governor deserves the support of Uyo people,” Uwah said.
He also praised the Uyo Local Government chairman for his performance and announced plans to engage youths and women separately as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots participation.
Uwah said he was optimistic about the electoral prospects of Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Mark Essiet and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo.
At the same time, he appealed to party members to avoid political activities that could distract the incumbent local government administration.
He particularly cautioned against premature campaigns for the Uyo LGA chairmanship.
In his remarks, Uyo LGA Chairman and State ALGON Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, commended Uwah for convening the meeting.
Udo said collaboration among political stakeholders remained essential to strengthening the party and sustaining grassroots mobilisation.
He disclosed that more than 20,000 new voters were registered in Uyo during the recent registration exercise.
Also speaking, Hon. Monday Eyo, former Chairman of the Local Government and Civil Service Commission, commended Governor Eno for infrastructure projects and appointments.
Eyo highlighted the Uyo Village Road as one of the projects of the administration and urged party members to remain committed as the 2027 elections approach.
The meeting was attended by several government officials and political stakeholders, including Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr. Anieti Udofia; Chairman of UCCDA Hon. Anietie Eka; Delivery Adviser on Tourism Sir Charles Udoh; Dean of Permanent Secretaries Mrs. Uduak Eyo Ansa; SSA on Entrepreneurial Development Mr. Ime Uwah; councillors, supervisors and other leaders.
