From Ahmed Salihu Ibrahim
The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, has continued to strengthen security architecture and promote peace across the three districts of the council since assuming office on November 6, 2024.
The Chairman, who came into office with a commitment to unite the people of Toto and address longstanding communal tensions, has placed security and peaceful coexistence at the centre of his administration.
His administration’s efforts have particularly focused on preventing a recurrence of communal clashes involving communities in the area, including the Egbura and Bassa Kwomu communities.

From the beginning of his tenure, Baba Yahaya adopted security-oriented strategies aimed at creating a safe environment for residents while ensuring that development reaches Toto, Gadabuke and Umaisha districts.
One of the notable interventions of the administration is the facilitation of the construction of a police station in Gadabuke Town.
The council administration has also provided operational vehicles for the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Gadabuke and extended similar support to the Umaisha area.
The police division in Toto Town has also benefited from operational support under the administration.
In another move aimed at improving community-based security operations, the council chairman donated 10 motorcycles to strengthen security surveillance and response across Toto Local Government Area.
Within two years in office, the administration also constructed and furnished a Military Super Camp at Katakpa community in Umaisha District.
The security interventions have, according to the administration and stakeholders, contributed to improved security conditions in parts of the local government.
The improved security environment has also facilitated the return of Bassa people and other displaced residents to their communities after years away from their homes.
The return was facilitated through collaboration involving the local government, Nasarawa State Government and Federal Government.
Speaking on the development, Mr. John Ughulu said Toto and its environs were now witnessing relative peace, commending Chairman Ahmed Baba Yahaya for his efforts.
