The Management and Staff of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Governor’s Office, Asaba, have congratulated His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, on the fifth anniversary of his reign.
The Bureau described the milestone as a celebration of an illustrious reign characterised by visionary leadership, cultural renaissance, peace, unity and transformative development within the ancient Warri Kingdom and across the Itsekiri Nation.
In a goodwill message signed by the Director-General of the Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., the organisation said the five years of Ogiame Atuwatse III’s reign had opened a significant chapter in the history of the Iwere people.
According to the Bureau, the Olu has combined ancestral wisdom, intellectual depth and modern vision with a strong commitment to the welfare and advancement of his people.
It said His Imperial Majesty had demonstrated that royalty goes beyond the splendour of the crown, stressing that the traditional institution carries the responsibility of preserving heritage, promoting unity and creating opportunities for future generations.
The Bureau particularly commended the monarch’s contributions to human capital development, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and economic empowerment.
It said initiatives associated with the Royal Iwere Foundation and the Iwere Trust Fund, including the Olu’s personal donation of N750 million, demonstrated his commitment to service and compassion.
The organisation also praised Ogiame Atuwatse III for promoting Itsekiri history, culture and identity while ensuring that the heritage of the Iwere people remains relevant in a rapidly changing global environment.
The Bureau noted that the monarch’s efforts to unite Itsekiris at home and in the diaspora had strengthened cultural consciousness and projected the Warri Kingdom on the international stage.
It further described the Olu as a bridge-builder and symbol of peace whose diplomacy and commitment to dialogue had reinforced the role of traditional institutions in promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
The presence of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the fifth coronation anniversary celebration was also described by the Bureau as evidence of the enduring respect and cordial relationship between the state government and the Warri throne.
The Bureau said Ogiame Atuwatse III had successfully married tradition with innovation, transforming heritage into an instrument of development while giving renewed relevance to traditional leadership.
It joined the Itsekiri Nation, Warri Kingdom, Delta State Government, people of Delta State and well-wishers across Nigeria and the world in celebrating the monarch.
